The Biblical Path To Heaven
“If I were to die today, would I spend eternity in Heaven with God?”
There’s a big question we all ask ourselves: What will happen when I die? Where will I spend eternity? The most important question you must answer in your life is this: “If I were to die today, would I spend eternity in Heaven with God?” Your relationship with Jesus Christ is essential to answering this question.
The Bible tells us in 1 John 5:13, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life…” The simple truth is that God wants you to know where you are going! In short, here’s how to find out:
First, understand your need for a personal Savior. The Bible is very clear in teaching us that we all have a big problem called sin. Romans 3:23 tells us, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
This verse simply states that no one is perfect. Are you willing to admit this?
The problem is this—sin has a very high price. Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death…” In other words, the price of sin is eternal life separated from God in a place called Hell—this is not a good thing! Because of our sin, none of us can go to heaven on our own.
Here is the good news—God sent help! Romans 6:23 continues, “…but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” In Romans 5:8, God says, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” This brings us to the second step.
You need to believe that Jesus Christ wants to be your Savior! Christ Jesus came into the world as God in the flesh, lived a perfect life, and then willingly died on the cross because He loves you. On the cross, He literally paid for all your sins. He took your guilt! He suffered the punishment for your sins. What a beautiful gift!
John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” God, in his great love, came into the world to prepare a way for your sins to be forgiven and thus give you eternal life! Finally, you must put your trust in Christ Jesus as your one and only Savior. Romans 10:13 says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Verse 10 of the same chapter says, “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” He says it’s as simple as believing and receiving! It’s simply asking!
If you have never asked Jesus Christ to be your personal Savior, you can do so right now. If He is in your heart, your life will have purpose. Right now, you can pray this prayer with a sincere heart:
“Lord Jesus, I believe that you are God, that you died for my sins, and that you rose from the dead. I know that I am a sinner, and I ask you right now to be my one and only Savior. In you I place all my trust, and I receive your gift of eternal life. Thank you for your promise! In Christ Jesus, Amen.”
